Rabbits are usually needier than you would think. Most people consider them easy pets for beginners, families, and children. However, the fact is, you most certainly need to be more than ready to accept one and the responsibilities that come along with them. So many rabbits suffer neglect because some people just do not understand what they need. So, what are the basic needs of a pet rabbit? Before taking on the responsibility, you need to know as much as you can.
Here are some things you need to understand: They are not good for children as they are prey animals and very skitty. Therefore, they will bite and scratch when picked up if they do not like it. You need to clean them out and check over them every day. Furthermore, they need big spaces, more than one rabbit, fresh hay every day, and for them to be neutered. Don’t forget vaccinations, vet checks and treatment, fresh vegetables daily, and specific rabbit food pellets. As rabbits can live for 10-12 years, that can be a real challenge! Make sure you are up for it.
