  1. In my opinion, it is always a good idea to get your dog spayed or neutered. We searched for dogs in local pet shelters for a week before we decided to get our lab pup. Most of the dogs at the Kennels we looked at ranged from 2yrs to 8yrs. We saw a couple of suitable matches for us, but by the time we decided whether we wanted it or not, probably a day, they were adopted. The point is there were a lot of dogs and cats out there that are not living quality lives because they were “thrown away” when their owners got sick of them. I don’t want to have the guilt of my dog having pups, and then going to homes where they are not loved. Another positive point in getting your pet spayed is that this also makes for a healthier pet. We will get Gracie spayed before she is six months old.
