There are a lot of people who are intrigued by spiders of all kinds. When it comes to keeping spiders as pets, one of the most popular species is the tarantula. However, there is a question raised by that; are pet tarantulas poisonous? The simple answer is yes, they are. However, with over 800 species of tarantula in the world, the question is a little more difficult to answer. That is because all 800+ species of tarantula are venomous, but the levels of discomfort and pain are different for each of them.
However, one thing worth noting is that the venom that tarantulas carry is usually very low on the toxicity scale for humans. Although, that toxicity ranges from “not really feeling it” to pain for a few days. One other good thing about tarantulas though, is that they rarely use their venom for a simple bite. That means that they save their venom for eating, which means they are not likely to use their venom on humans, as we are too big to eat!
