Not everyone likes cuddly, furry pets. Some people like the idea of having a water pet, but want something they can handle a little. That is the joy of turtles. They are not all that difficult to take care of, either. However, you will need to do a little research about how to prepare their environment, what they need, and what to feed them.
All turtles spend most of their time in the water. However, it is imperative for you to give them somewhere to climb out of the water if they choose to. You will want a terrarium for them, and not a small one, either. Even though they are pretty small, they still use a lot of space. Another issue that turtle owners face is keeping the water clean. Make sure to invest in a very good filtration system, and ensure that you keep the filter changed at regular intervals. Water temperature is not as important, but you will need a heat lamp for them to bask under.
Feeding them is not as difficult, though. 4-5 times a week is often adequate, providing you feed them the right things. You can buy pellet turtle food which, providing you buy good quality food, should be sufficient.
