In simple terms, yes, Bearded Dragons make wonderful pets. However, there are some things that you need to keep in mind when you choose to have one. Although, we would like to point out that, although there are some difficulties, they are easy after you have them set up.
Some of the best points about owning a Bearded Dragon as a pet are that they are cheap and basic to own, have various different colours, and they do not disturb you like dogs, cats, or any other large animal would. Furthermore, you do not need to walk them, they do not get fleas, and they do not wake you up making loud noises because they want to play. They also do not need any special living requirements as some reptiles do. All you need to buy is a good vivarium, food and water bowls, heat and UV lamp, and some accessories to help them feel comfortable. You certainly won’t need a doormat just for them to wipe their feet!
Feeding them is easy, too. You will only need some fresh fruit and vegetables, small insects, even fish, and maybe some supplements if you are unable to fulfil their dietary requirements with real food. They do not need feeding many times a day, either, as bigger animals may. If you have the right supplier of food, you can probably buy and look after a Bearded Dragon for one year, for less than $1,000. Remember, that cost is spread out, and it will reduce the next year, too.
