Dog owners love treating their pets, especially if they have done something good that needs a reward. There are only a few foods that we carry around with us that have easy to dispose of the packaging, and healthy for us. One of them is bananas. That can make us wonder if dogs can eat bananas, and if they are good to treat our dogs with. Well, the fact is that, like people, dogs need a balanced diet, too.
Bananas are cheap most of the year, easily available, and easy to transport without the smell of dog food and treats. Bananas have a lot of nutrients in them that are good for dogs—for example, fibre, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and biotin. While the skin of a banana is not toxic, avoid giving it to your dog. That is because it has a lot more fibre in it than the fruit itself, and can cause digestive problems.
Also note that only half a banana is enough for a large dog a day, and small dogs should only eat a few small slices. However, with the high sugar content in bananas, you should only ever use them as a treat.
