Snakes are one of the most sensitive creatures on the planet. No that doesn’t mean that they will cry at a sad movie or laugh at a joke, no matter how good it is. It means that they have very acute hearing, smell, and taste. However, we know that they have pretty poor eyesight. That raises the question; can a pet snake recognize its owner? Well, the first answer has to be no, right? If they can’t see us, how can they know it is us holding them?
Well, the truth is, that yes, they can recognize us, but through the other senses, such as smell and hearing. After a while of handling them, they learn how we smell. Even if there are a few people that will hold them, snakes can distinguish our smell from the other people. However, it is highly unlikely that they will see us in the same way as a cat or dog would, purely because they do not have the sight, or brain function to do so.
