Tips & Tricks for Pets

Can Pet Ferrets Live Outside?

Pet ferrets can live indoors or outside, the choice is yours. However, there are some things that you need to know before you make the decision. First of all, their natural environment is outside, so they will enjoy the fresh air and the sunlight. The first problem that you will encounter is their cunning escape ability. They are wonderfully apt at squeezing through the smallest of gaps. If you have any gaps bigger than 1-inch square, they will escape. Furthermore, they love to dig, so you will need to dig their cage wire below the ground.

Secondly, you need to watch the weather. Ferrets

are hugely popular in the UK because the climates are usually perfect for them. But, if the temperature drops too much, or rises above 26 Centigrade, you can face real health problems, and it can even be fatal. When it gets too hot
, you need to provide them cool places to go. Whether you use fans and shade or bring them indoors, this is vital. Ferrets are much more capable of living in cold weather than in warm, so if you can, keep it cool!
